Italy 1976, 99 minutes
Dir. Dario Argento
Rating: [R18]
Genres: Horror / Psycho
Feat. David Hemmings, Daria Nicolodi
Aroview: David Hemmings plays a touring pianist in Rome who witnesses the slaying of a psychiatrist. Cat-and-mouse murder mystery is one of the Italian auteur's best and most typical; masterfully executed, gruesome set pieces are his forte - sophisticated storytelling is not. This edited version keeps the gore in tact but skims on the 'sub-plot' detail.

2 stars (Good Try) Maybe its just the extended cut we watched, but this movie fell pretty flat. Excellent cinematography and a few good practicals, along with a superb soundtrack couldn't save this film from being sluggish, confusing and ultimately just a bad story. ~Sevenhead
3 stars (Good Enough) The story is nonsense and the characters are as weird and implausible as they are stylish, but that's not why you come to movies like these. Great soundtrack, terrifying stalking sequences, stylish soundtrack, and some amazing locations. ~Pop&Coffee
4 stars (Very Good) Yes the characters are ridiculous, but it's giallo so of course they are. The big reveal surprises no one. However, every shot is gorgeous as are the sets. Plus the gore is glorious. One of Argento's best. Great soundtrack by Goblin too. ~trauma_hound412
Includes the complete version of the film, plus a 55-minute documentary "An Eye for Horror".
