Tell Me Something
Aroview: A fine slice of Korean “giallo”, this is detective pulp of the lacquered-black, rain-drenched variety, with perverse/macabre trimmings courtesy of a sicko-psycho who dismembers his victims with surgical precision.
When the tell-tale body bags start showing up around Seoul, a disgraced detective is given the chance to redeem himself but instead finds himself obsessed with a demure female who can be linked to each of the victims. Owing a debt in style and grisly content to “Se7en”, this leaps over its palls in logic with highly-toned technique and an involving narrative, though the bubble is eventually burst by a finale that manages to be at once obvious and head-scratching. The Western alt-pop soundtrack features Nick Cave, Placebo.
