Brain Dead
Aroview: Long unreleased in New Zealand (which possibly explains why Peter Jackson also claimed the title), this arrives a bit of a lost gem from the halcyon years of 'indie' horror.
Written in the 60s by 'Twilight Zone' brain-child Charles Beaumont, it screams innovation from every plot quirk and reversal, and presages the milennial wave of 'alternate reality' pictures by an impressive margin. Its 'mad science' story of paranoid delusions, secret formulas and unscrupulous corporations features early lead performances by Bill Pullman and Bill Paxton, and a totally wired Bud Cort as the 'mental' mathematician on the receiving end of the corporate scalpel.
