Aroview: Leaving for dead most of the so-called ‘Brit-Crime’ genre, this return-to-notice gem from the director of GET CARTER gambled on intriguing characters, an off-kilter heist storyline and sardonic world-view, and became a sleeper hit in the US.

Set in the small-scale orbit of London casino-culture, Clive Owen (BENT) is the writer-croupier who starts using his nightly ‘day-job’ as material for an ongoing novel, and slowly begins to resemble his hardboiled protagonist. Alex Kingston is also excellent as the South African femme fatale.
