Crooked Earth
Aroview: Vivid action-melodrama uses the dispossession of East Coast Maori to prime its tale of tribal succession, with SAS soldier Temuera Morrison returning to his roots and a powderkeg of local issues.
Lawrence Makoare proves a compelling presence as the politically-radical brother (financing his operation with dope-growing), though the level of argument hardly rises above the ‘daily newspaper’ level.
