Others, The
Aroview: Ghostly tale in the classic tradition of Henry James, conjuring a spectral fog of unease from a gaunt mansion on the island of Jersey in 1945, presided over by a morbidly religious Nicole Kidman.
Due to a rare medical condition her two children must not be exposed to sunlight, and thus the world of family and servants is shadowed by ever-drawn curtains and locked doors, out of which the children see (or imagine?) menacing ‘others’. Despite a slow start, impressive style eventually succumbs to substance with a satisfying series of twists.

3 stars (Good Enough) Henry James meets Shyamalan in this tale of twists and turns, constantly reminding us that the less we see, the creepier each moment becomes. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) Set during World War II, a woman and her photosensitive children live in a darkened mansion believing their home is haunted. Impressive enough psychological horror. ~GenXGirl
4 stars (Very Good) ~JohnSpecialK
3 stars (Good Enough) Nicole plays Nicole which is okay but is outstaged by Fionnula Flanagan who is so effective in her role. The screenplay is familiar territory but because it treats most things in a low key manner it is more effective for doing so. The house is a winner. ~Tubbs
