From Hell
Aroview: Johnny Depp goes Goth again, this time buttoned-up in Victorian garb, as a drug-afflicted cockney detective hired to sniff out legendary misogynist Jack the Ripper.
Offers some ripe conjecture on what might have taken place on those dark London cobblestones, but illuminates very little and ultimately stretches facts into fantasyland. Curiously directed by sibling African-Americans, this has its moments, but is destined to be just a footnote on the Johnny Depp resume. Adapted from the comic book by Alan Moore.

3 stars (Good Enough) Depp strangely dead - its left to a classy supporting cast eg. Ian Richardson; Ian Holm; Katrin Cartlidge (miss you); Susan Lynch to breathe life into it.Some good props. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) Very good version of the Ripper story…the ending is good, but maybe not what happened in real life ~emjay
