Aroview: Visually splendid ‘future-noir’ set in a teeming, multi-leveled city, inhabited by several storylines: a detective quest, the resistance movement to the political rulers, a mad-scientist and his robot creations and a concealed super-weapon. With a cult pedigree of writers and animators, this fuses cell-drawn characters and CGI, generating an almost overpowering sense of detail in its retro-industrial design, a little undermined by the quaintly ‘international’ flavour of the characters and broad humour.
