Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The
Aroview: A belated, somewhat desperate, return to TCM county by the director of the original, who 'cannibalizes' his authentic horror classic with some unsavoury black comedy on the side. Dennis Hopper (then on a career revival) chews the scenery as a vengeance-seeking ranger.

3 stars (Good Enough) Hooper refuses to give his mid-Reagan-era audience the sequel they expected, instead giving them the the coked-up, cartoon horror movie they deserved: very sick, knowingly excessive, often hilarious. Dennis Hopper's even nuttier here than in Blue Velvet. ~fairbrother
4 stars (Very Good) ~Wyatt Earp
2 stars (Good Try) Its sole purpose seemed to be to outdo the original. ~Tubbs
