Vatel
Aroview: Talent-studded drama set in the cuisine-conscious French nobility of Louis XIV’s reign, where master chef Gerard Depardieu must prepare a three-day feast for a very picky monarch (Julian Sands).
Crawling with tittering bewigged dandies, this scenario (scripted by Tom Stoppard) is wonderfully overcooked in the wardrobe and art departments, but one can always relish the excellent cast.

4 stars (Very Good) It's 1671 and Vatel, a party planner extrodinare, must impress the visiting King Louis XIV at his master's estate. Only he finds himself attracted to the King's newest mistress, who finds in him an authentic and principled man. Beautiful & extravagant. ~GenXGirl
