Moonlight Mile
Aroview: A remarkably quirky weepie, that coats its tale of Jake Gyllenhaal’s grieving and re-adjustment to life in 1973 after his fiance’s murder, with enough Hollywood moonshine to go the mile.
While still living with his dead partner’s family (Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon), Gyllenhaal is prompted into an unexpected romance, an odd situation which starts off a train of even odder thinking. An ongoing court-case over the death heightens the sense of emotional unreality. Apparently based around the dir.’s own experiences.
