Aroview: A sturdily dramatic account of Australian Anthony Fingleton’s rise from his working class origins in 1950s Brisbane to becoming a champion backstroke swimmer.

Anchored by the excellent performances of Geoffrey Rush and Judy Davis as the parents, who face their own constricted lives with a mixture of anger, humour and alcoholic self-medication. Strong on period detail, with a satisfying vein of poignant recollection. Based on Fingelton’s autobiography.

3 stars (Good Enough) Whatever shortcomings it has at the helm is two of Australia's finest and the screenplay to its credit does not shirk from portraying the rough edges of the characters. ~Tubbs
