Aroview: A retired professor, who leads of solitary and ordered existence is disturbed by rich and overbearing new tenants in his Roman palazzo.

Assembles many of dir. Visconti's favourite character-types and story elements into a study of his favourite preoccupation - corruption - with ornate dialogue and design to match. Chief defects prove to be a static visual style (partially due to the dir.'s stroke, which happened prior to production) and the odd, 'international cast' dubbing.
