Assassination Tango
Aroview: Unassuming, yet engrossing crime drama, which follows aging hitman Robert Duvall on a job in Argentina, while casually digressing into a search for the 'real tango dance'.
Duvall also directs, mounting his memorable, rounded portrait of a distracted and cantankerous killer, onto an moody backdrop of picturesque, shadowy Buenos Aires. As his assignment to assassinate an ex-Army General slowly unravels, there are hints of political complications - but these remain of less concern to the jaded professional than frequenting shady clubs and romancing a noted dancer. Though perhaps too stately and elliptical for some, this tangos elegantly around its themes with minimal fuss and a beguiling tone.
