Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Aroview: A blushing musical turkey that contrives a potty narrative from Beatles’ songs interpreted by The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton, along with guest artists like “Earth, Wind & Fire” and “Aerosmith”.
Having the gall to indict the ‘evils’ of the corporate music industry, the irony seems lost on The Brothers’ Gibb and producer Robert Stigwood, who stumble badly after the pop phenomenons that were SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER and GREASE. Shoddily conceived and executed, this can still be enjoyed as a steaming slab of hubristic kitsch, and for the great tunes that miraculously survive it.
