Return to Waterloo - The Kinks
Aroview: A unique 80s-era rock-opera from The Kinks which takes place in the mind of a solitary train-commuter and features various songs that never saw an album release.
Akin both to the dark fantasies of Dennis Potter (SINGING DETECTIVE) and Roger Waters (THE WALL), this contains some disturbing undercurrents of violence and sexuality, but is also suffused with Davies' elegaic feelings on British nationhood.
This disc also contains "Come Dancing with The Kinks" a short compilation of Kinks classics. Tracklist: Come Dancing, Predictable, Lola (Live), State of Confusion, Don't Forget to Dance, You Really Got Me (Live), Do It Again, Celluloid Heroes (Live)

3 stars (Good Enough) Ray Davies' bleak, even creepy, view of Thatcher's England. The song, 'Expectations', pretty well nails it. ~Shorty
