God of Cookery, The
Aroview: Stephen Chow cooks up a comic storm as a mercilessly ego-centric chef who, in great narrative tradition, is forced to truly earn his title after his empire is sabotaged by a food-poisoning scandal.
Finding himself at the bottom of the food chain, a path to redemption is found at a monastery where he will train for the grand cook-off against his vengeful protege. Though typically hit and miss in its verbal sparring and visual gags, it's a good example of Chow's hybrid parodies of Asian legends and contemporary mores.
