Safety of Objects, The

Aroview: A multi-stranded drama set in a quietly unusual version of American suburbia where seamy dysfunction co-exists with surreal normality.

Based on the short story collection by A M Homes, this centres around four different families and the safety-net of 'ownership' each develop to cope with crises large (a car accident) and small (a curious love-affair between a boy and a Barbie doll). Although over-dense in its structure, this displays enough fragile ironies and thoughtful moments to build an atmosphere all its own.
