Day of the Locust, The
Aroview: A decadent, densely-detailed adaptation of Nathaniel West's scalding movie-biz novel of the 1930s that recreates Golden Age Hollywood with both seedy realism and showbiz artifice.
Centering around the loosely-connected stories of a talentless wannabe actress (Black), an aspiring art-director (Atherton) and a lovelorn accountant with disdain for the movies (Sutherland), is a greater social network that succumbs the film's fateful and surreal denouement. Scripted by the great Waldo Salt.
