Man on Fire
Aroview: A hard-eyed revenge thriller which sees an alcoholic bodyguard (Washington) losing a 11-yr old girl he's assigned to protect in Mexico City and embarking on a private crusade to retrieve her.
After a slow start having to 'beat the bottle' with the help of God, and from then on spouting neo-Biblicalisms, Washington soon fills the screen with wall-to-wall violence as he chases the child-nappers. Although compentently told, this is finally most notable for its blood-drenched grimness.

3 stars (Good Enough) Starts well, nice photography, Denzel's great, the relationship with the mother & daughter's convincing, but the film degenerates into cartoon violence. And it's very long. Gaudy junk, but absorbing enough. ~HiFi
2 stars (Good Try) Up to the kidnapping its fine & then follows slow motion action shots and flashy editing/camera work and flashy flash backs - all indicators of a screenplay in trouble. ~Tubbs
