A Map of the World

Aroview: A somewhat overlooked drama with Weaver giving a tour-de-force performance as a slightly prickly woman, uncomfortable with her life, who is ostracised by a rural community after the accidental death of a child on her husband's farm.

Spiralling into a full-blown courtroom suspenser, and exploring the social and family dimensions of smalltown tragedy, this probably bites off more than is chewable, yet several resonant performances remain. From the novel by Jane Hamilton.
