Ox Bow Incident, The
Aroview: Superlative moral drama in a Western setting, where three lynched cattle rustlers are later proven innocent by the upstanding Henry Ford.
Although perhaps a little pat in its condemnation of frontier society, this builds an undoubtably powerful mood of claustrophobia and suppressed sadism, aided by its patently artificial sound-stage production. Has been seen by many as prefiguring the visuals and psychology of the 'film noir' genre.
