Silver City
Aroview: Oddly tangled satire of Bush-era American politics in which a George Dubya soundalike (Cooper) goes on the campaign trail in Colorado, while mysteries and corporate intrigues swirl in the background.
Actually centred more around the quest by a amiably bumbling detective (Huston) to discover why a body turned up at one of the candidate's rallies, this presents its vision of America as a fatally corrupt democracy with cheerful irony. Perhaps dir. Sayles most openly partisan film, this is still woven with intelligence and skill.
