Dear Frankie
Aroview: An effectively written drama about the consequences of a mother's desire to protect her deaf son from the truth about his violent absent father.
In a series of letters to the lad she impersonates his father, and is compelled to pay a man to carry on the deception. Benefits from Mortimer's sympathetic manner, though some may find to situation too lightly drawn to resonate, and one does wonder what, say, Mike Leigh might have made of the idea.
