Aroview: Perhaps dir. Haneke's (THE PIANO TEACHER) least straightforward effort, this sketches a series of interconnected storylines loosely bound by themes of urban alienation, moral choice and determinism.
Binoche plays a horror-movie actress, by chance connected to a disturbed young immigrant from Mali and a homeless woman from some nameless Eastern European war zone. Their 'realities' seem to inform her own artistic straddling of appearance and reality, also mirrored in her husband's career of war-photographer. Told in a series of short scenes, puctuated by black-outs, this still manages to leave the viewer squirming on the line between curiosity and self-incrimation.

4 stars (Very Good) ~Regando
3 stars (Good Enough) The breaking up and mixing of different but loosely related stories into short sharp scenes works well as it keeps your attention in not knowing what comes next. ~Tubbs
