A good premise but after a good start, the screenplay loses its way in the middle stages round about the time the kid appears – although it has a good ending you feel that after doing all the hard work in setting things up it missed the boat.
A good version of the story is helped by the black and white photography (I don't think colour would have been as effective in displaying the drabness of the underworld). Some haunting drumming, as a soundtrack, is a positive contribution.
The screenplay is a mixture of the very good and segments requiring a bit more patience or another watch. At least commendably the material is original.
The plot idea is okay but although Macy and Bello are fine their characters' relationship took up a bit too much screen time and so hindered the momentum of the screenplay.
