City By the Sea (2002)
An excellent cast who perform well, but although there are some good location shots of a seedy Long Island, the screenplay doesn't convince.
High Life (2019)
Have mixed feelings about this – out of respect for the Director I will watch again at a later date. I don't want to deter people from watching it and making up their own minds as it has some good reviews.
Rawhide (1951)
It is not great but certainly not a time waster– Jack Elam is cast among the baddies – where else(?)
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (John Wick 3) (2019)
The running time is over two hours so there is plenty of repetitive violence but at least it is well choreographed. The set designs, however, are terrific especially the Blade Runner type street scenes.
Skin (2019)
It doesn't quite maintain the interest set by the early scenes but Jamie Bell is impressive and looks and acts the part.
Godzilla II: King of the Monsters (2019)
These endless "remakes" make you appreciate just how good the original and nostalgic 1954 version was.
Seagull, The (2018)
I thought the first half was fine but the second half just didn't fire. Still, the fine performances and photography helped get one through.
Mirror Has Two Faces, The (1996)
It is overlong and has a Hollywood ending but Steisand's energetic performance helps to maintain the interest.
Wild Rose (2018)
Jessie Buckley's energy reminds me of Julie Walters who happens to play her grandmother. Most of the screenplay is fine but there are scenes used as padding at times to link the musical segments.
2 B Perfectly Honest (2004)
After a good opening skit what follows is a bit uneven but it is worth a try.
