Bet, TheBet, The (2007)
2 stars (Good Try) The screenplay has little new material. The characters deserve each other and do not resemble a typical Australian – one actually plays polo.
Kinky BootsKinky Boots (2005)
3 stars (Good Enough) The screenplay handles the sweet better than the bitter and although it takes a dip it does recover for the end.
Fifth Estate, TheFifth Estate, The (5ifth Estate, The) (2013)
3 stars (Good Enough) A reasonable addition to the WikiLeaks genre.
Four Musketeers, TheFour Musketeers, The (1973)
3 stars (Good Enough) The comedy plot idea is getting a bit stale by this stage but there is enough character in the casting to maintain the interest.
Eight Men OutEight Men Out (1989)
3 stars (Good Enough) The screenplay was solid and the story, interesting. Enjoyed the period details for e.g. the advertising hoardings at the ballpark.
Guru, TheGuru, The (2002)
2 stars (Good Try) The screenplay gets a bit soppy at times but the soundtrack and musical segments are worthwhile.
Gorky ParkGorky Park (1983)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) A decent screenplay but William Hurt wasn't convincing. However, there were other performances that helped compensate.
DVD $20 $15
Fly, TheFly, The (1986)Aro Favourite
4 stars (Very Good) A genuine horror. Terrific work by the makeup and special effects departments.
StigmataStigmata (1999)
2 stars (Good Try) Arquette, Byrne, and Pryce is a decent cast. Not a memorable screenplay but it did burn up the screen.
Yours, Mine and OursYours, Mine and Ours (1968)
2 stars (Good Try) Not a bad comedy plot idea and is still watchable 55 years on.
