I thought the horror elements to this film were gross out to hell and back. So many out loud "eww" moments. The practical effects were great. That bath scene was excellent, gore was done very well.
What shape this man was in and stunts this man could do! Bravo. Performances are what you'd expect of Hong Kong pictures of this era, they're better performances than all the Shaw pictures I've seen.
Not as amazing in terms of action as the first, and the set pieces less impressive. There was a more cutthroat quality to the consequences of fighting however, and a more serious tone to boot.
I would love to have a great long conversation with someone about this movie. It's one that I want to understand but I'm too stupid to get it on my own. I think there were a lot of questions that I am now left with at the end of this (not a bad thing).
This is so amazing really. The scale. The editing. Super complex. Like the epics of 'Ulysses' I'm sure, where in depth analysis is required to truly understand.
Boring. I'm not always serious about boringness and stuff but seeing as it's a New Zealand remake you gotta try to keep expectations good because of Taika Waititi and reputation and stuff.
