Bride and Prejudice (2004)
Henderson is dead in the water. The screenplay is fluff but as with a number of Bollywood productions they have the musical numbers down pat and make it all well worthwhile.
Time Machine, The (2002)
Pearce is not convincing & he's in every scene. The highlights are the set designs & wardrobe of the Victorian period. However once they leave the Victorian settings the screenplay becomes less interesting & may even go off the rails.
Skyline (2010)
I thought Eric Balfour was pretty useless and the screenplay was little different from other alien invasions that we have had – it also owed a debt to King Kong. But thumbs up to the special effects team.
Spring Breakers (2012)
The opening scenes are infantile and when Franco enters the story it becomes rubbish thereafter.
Roxanne (1987)
A minor comedy – no memorable scenes but its watchable.
Hudsucker Proxy, The (1994)
The first half hour is very strong – the set designs and wardrobe impressive. The screenplay loses a bit of impetus after that except for segments here and there.
Mother's Day (2016)
With all due respect to mothers everywhere I didn't think much of this film – you deserve better.
Grand Hotel (1932)
Some of it has dated 80 years on but the whole package is still worth it. Its a good screenplay and its hard to dislike any of it. Some memorably over dramatic acting helps.
Beatles, The: Eight Days a Week (2016)
Although the music helps – to produce another documentary about a previously well documented band and to make it interesting is some achievement.
Jerk, The (1980)
It doesn't all work but the parts that do aren't too bad.
