Reckoning, The (2003)
A more than useful cast with an interesting screenplay. It does well in capturing a Middle Ages atmosphere (if there is such a thing) through the lack of lighting, its wardrobe and set designs.
Grimsby (2016)
There is a market for this kind of material – otherwise they wouldn't make it. The real interest is why some people with a talent for acting i.e. Strong, McShane and Tomlinson would want to be involved.
Mighty Joe Young (1999)
One star for the good intentions of the plot (which unfortunately gets out of control) and another one for the GORILLA effects team. Charlize is her own star – she is radiant.
Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005)
Not a particularly strong screenplay. It struggles to find an ending and eventually ends up in the crap.
Hairspray (2007)
Although the songs and music are mostly forgettable – there is plenty of energy and hardly a static moment.
American Pie (1999)
Its funny in a grubby kind of way – the desperation for a laugh is apparent.
Flipper (1996)
Flipper is fine but the screenplay and the rest of the cast are ordinary.
Herbie Fully Loaded (2005)
Herbie always was a brilliant idea and the Herbie segments in this follow up are still worth the time. The rest is more typical Disney family fodder but Lindsay L is fine as usual.
An American Tail 2: Fievel Goes West (1991)
I couldn't understand what the animals were squeaking about but their antics are all go and enjoyable.
Everest (2015)
If you know or suspect the outcome the suspense element goes out the window. The film overall doesn't reach great heights.
