SuperBob (2015)
A non–event comedy wise for me on a first viewing but be warned it has some good reviews elsewhere and should be checked out.
Freeheld (2015)
These based on true events personal dramas are usually wishy washy but this one has a good screenplay and a more than talented leading cast in Moore,Page and Shannon that makes all the difference.
Jack and Sarah (1996)
Very uneven – I have never seen Grant so poor and its on him that the film rests despite a stellar support cast in Atkins, Dench, and McKellen.rnThe screenplay is very frothy so it doesn't need this talent anyway I guess.
Matchmaker, The (1958)
A light but entertaining plot. Paul Ford as usual steals each scene he's in.
Casino Jack (2010)
The story makes it hard to distinguish who are the criminals and who are just doing their job – lobbyists, financiers and politicians – or whether in fact there is any difference at all in some cases. Spacey makes an unattractive character very watchable.
Mojave (2016)
Hard to follow the plot – I read the synopsis later but it didn't really help to clarify too much what I had just seen.
Willard (2002)
Very stylised – well done to the set designers and the choice of colours by the photography department. Glover and Ermey are good and whilst this is a remake the story in itself has enough originality to maintain interest.
Astro Boy (2009)
Very clear animation – a good script and entertaining characters.
Seminole (1953)
A watchable western with a well intentioned screenplay but the ending is weak. Rock looks out of place and seems to be wearing false teeth.
House of Wax (2005)
One good scene – the animal cesspit and one good character – the animal cesspit worker. The rest of the characters can be found in umpteen other teen horror films but the basic story still stands up well.
