21 Grams (2003)
I don't know why he chose to complicate the story telling – if the story is strong enough then leave the bloody thing alone. I'll watch Charlotte G anytime, Naomi is fine and Benicio is never boring so there are some good points.
Return of Jafar, The (1994)
Continues the Aladdin theme very well – some good entertaining characters and colourful animation.
Infinitely Polar Bear (2014)
Handles pretty well what could be a sensitive subject area – the performances are fine.
Drop, The (2014)
The script is efficient & the characters are very interesting. The four lead performers give each other space and work extremely well off each other.
Black Orpheus (1959)
For me it has the greatest of all musical film scores – the films not bad either.
Blackhat (2015)
I never really recovered from Chris Hemsworth being cast as an intelligent character. Nothing wrong with the plot idea but it goes on and on and as usual violence intervenes. The Bl Ray has a good short on the Cyber Threat – see that instead.
Tears of the Sun (2003)
One suspenseful scene but you would expect that in the jungle at night. At other times the suspense is put on hold while the characters hold committee meetings in enemy territory. The casting could have been better.
Glory Road (2006)
Soon follows the predictable pattern of an underdog sports team movie.
City Of Ember (2008)
There is also a very good British support cast – of the quality of Toby Jones and Liz Smith et al. The special effects do the job and the set designs are terrific. A good story well told.
Shuttle (2008)
Production values look to be minimal – plot is nothing to write home about.
