For the most part, the screenplay seems to be aimed at a young adult or even a family audience but for some reason, an unnecessary killing or two or three is thrown into the pot.
The screenplay is not devoid of good things – it has some good production values and casting – but it appears to have some editing/continuity issues. A shame because the story is an interesting one.
Considering the main theme of the plot was quietness this drama was noisy – this was in no small part because of the soundtrack. However at least the screenplay was based on a fresh idea and the writer should be complimented for that.
At Malick length, the screenplay does require patience (as do some of the characters) but there are some excellent segments that should carry you through to the next excellent segment. The battle scenes lean toward authenticity & are mainly well done.
