Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
Mike M has developed a successful character(s) – he is one of the few who can deliver smutty lines successfully.
Chappie (2015)
The sci–fi is not actually mind boggling but there is violence aplenty – which seems about par for a lot of so called sci–fi films. The comedic elements are okay though.
Bonfire of the Vanities (1990)
Great title – everyone tries a bit too hard I believe – Morgan Freeman is fine and Saul Rubinek does okay but Melanie Griffith has done much better.
A History of Violence (2005)
The acting all round is great with the perhaps under rated Harris the standout. In hindsight the plot is straightforward but it is delivered in such a way as to maintain the suspense.
Pacifier, The (2004)
Familiar plot with the usual token of violence and dangerous driving to inspire the teens.
Into the Storm (2014)
The special effects are fine but once you've seen one tornado there is a bit of a sameness to proceedings for those that follow.
What If (2013)
Zoe Kazan is very good and holds proceedings together but there is not enough material for the plot to last the distance.
Billy Liar (1963)
A comedy/drama with a solid plot and a more than interesting cast. Tom Courtenay delivers yet again but Leonard Rossiter scene steals. Some "nostalgic" location shooting.
Dark Passage (1947)
Interesting premise but the film although watchable doesn't really take off. It lifts a little when Agnes Moorehead is on camera but her appearances are infrequent. Some nostalgic street scenes.
Free Willy: Escape from Pirate's Cove (2010)
A bit better than its predecessor but I wish the kid didn't shriek so much.
