A White, White DayA White, White Day (2019)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) The freshness of the screenplay is aided by the shooting locations. The best scenes are between grandfather and granddaughter and young Ída Mekkín Hlynsdóttir's performance is outstanding.
DVD $29.95
Melody TimeMelody Time (1948)
3 stars (Good Enough) A smorgasbord of entertaining short pieces.
EquityEquity (2016)Recommended
2 stars (Good Try) The screenplay offers no surprises and the characters are all cut from the same usual cloth.
NobodyNobody (2021)Recommended
2 stars (Good Try) It follows the usual path with this kind of screenplay but perhaps it exaggerates things a bit.
BFG, TheBFG, The (Big Friendly Giant) (1989)
3 stars (Good Enough) Delightful storytelling by traditional animation.
Secret of the Grain, TheSecret of the Grain, The (Couscous) (2007)
5 stars (Exceptional) Two & a half hours & no violence. It is obvious early that the female characters will dominate & they do so mainly in the ensemble pieces where the characters are so true to life – plenty of bickering & bitching. The musical climax is outstanding.
FaceFace (2002)
2 stars (Good Try) There are some good segments but overall you can't escape the feeling that it has been produced to appeal to a popular audience.
DolittleDolittle (The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle) (2020)
3 stars (Good Enough) Entertaining throughout and the animal action is particularly well done.
Crush, TheCrush, The (1993)
2 stars (Good Try) Although the screenplay lacks originality Alicia keeps things buzzing and at no stage do things go flat.
La Vie de JesusLa Vie de Jesus (Life of Jesus) (1997)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) A low key but effective racism drama. The young bored characters are very believable.
