Dir. George Romero
Genres: Horror / Walking Dead, Splatter
Aroview: Fourth installment for dir. Romero's famed DEAD series, set around a future world overrun by shuffling, half-rotten 'zombies' who menace a community of 'normal people', this time holed up in a moated skyscraper city.
Romero injects his usual allegory, with the city sanctuary ruled by a rich caste, whose roughneck underclass are beginning to chaff at the collar, one (Leguizamo) engaging in a full-fledged class revenge attack. Meanwhile, outside the walls, the 'undead' are developing new skills and a facility with modern weaponary. Both more gory and more conventional than the other films, this will satisfy fans and revolt a whole new generation!

3 stars (Good Enough) Romero still builds in some interesting undertones and suspense, but these now take a serious backseat to the horror action. Land of the Dead still features your shuffling zombies, but they may surprise you in ways other than speed. ~Tom H
4 stars (Very Good) An action pumped fighting horror, rather than the quiet eerie/creepy type. Has an interesting twist with a leading zombie who is not quite brain dead! Speed may not be on the zombies side, but he is! The living get more than they bargained for ~Anon
3 stars (Good Enough) A leading artist when it comes to zombie movies ~Tubbs
