9 Songs
Aroview: A controversially explicit sex'n'rock'n' roll drama about two stray souls - an American student and a British bloke - who over a year have an intense relationship, primarily carnal but also interwoven with the rock concerts they enthusiastically attend together.
Shot with an amber graininess and fitted end-to-end with a succession of songs by the likes of Franz Ferdinand, The Dandy Warhols and Primal Scream, this revels in the onscreen depiction of hardcore sex of many varieties. Drawing a charged and honest, yet also banal, portrait of human obsessions, this finally surrenders any attempts at characterisation and plot to an almost abstract appreciation of intercourse.
