Brothers Grimm
Aroview: Loosely based on the lives of 19th century German folklore collectors Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, this has the said brothers (played by Ledger and Damon) running a travelling show which perambulates from village to village, hoodwinking the locals with tricks, tales and cures of a magical nature.
But, captured by Napoleonic forces in the woods the Prussia, the Grimms are forced to investigate a real supernatural mystery: the disappearance of children in a gloomy forest hamlet. Dir. Gilliam's first excursion in seven years, this is piled with deliciously musty gothic trappings, inventive sight gags and queasily deranged villains, especially Italian torturer Stormare. Although this has been (rightly) criticised for narrative over-convolutions, it will bring Python-esque satisfaction to most Gilliam fans and plenty of others.
