Aro Recommended Neverwhere (Mini-series)

UK 1996, 180 minutes
Dir. Dewi Humphreys
Genres: Television, Science Fiction / Fantasy

Aroview: Highly worthwhile sci-fi confection from the pen of fantasy writer Neil Gaiman (MIRRORMASK), in which an 'ordinary' Londoner (Bakewell) one day helps an injured girl (Fraser) and comes to completely lose his identity: nobody recognises him anymore, his house is sold and job lost.

Henceforth he is plunged into the strange 'rabbithole' world of "London Below", populated by various fantastic, often menacing characters who co-exist in parallel with the normal world of the city. Although cheaply produced on videotape, Gaiman's vision succeeds in conjuring a sense of true eerieness and disorientating shifts in consciousness. Six episodes.
