MirrorMask
Aroview: Inventive fantasy drama in which a teenage girl - born into a circus family - is traumatised by her mother's sudden illness and retreats into an alternate reality of her own unconscious devising, peopled with strange creatures (sphinxes, gryphons, and less describable mutant creations) ruled by the Queens of Light and Shadows respectively.
Devised by comicbook legend Neil Gaiman, this weaves an astounding visual density around its essentially slender plot thread, pursuing its own post-Freudian version of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. While the emotional heart is missing at the centre of all the CGI magic, this will no doubt hold the attention of most fantasy buffs.
