Aroview: When a government official (Thierno Leye) in newly-independent Senegal marries a third wife he finds himself struck down with impotence, in this cynical satire on postcolonial politics in Africa from lauded director Ousmane Sembene (MOOLAADE).
Leye seeks a cure from a traditional healer, but gradually finds his life and status is falling about him - in an ironic metaphor for the facile pretensions of Senegal's ruling elite. Although the slow-moving rhythms require patience at first, Sembene succeeds in crafting what is finally a quite savage allegory of corruption and retribution.
