L'Enfer
Aroview: Intense and twisting family psychodrama based on a script by Krystof Kieslowski (THREE COLOURS) has three French sisters finding their lives unbalanced by a mysterious stranger, with clues and events leading back to traumatic past events involving their parents.
Emmanuelle Beart plays a housewife with a cheating husband; Marie Gillain, a student having an affair with her professor; and Carole Bouquet her mother's caregiver, with all three leading separate lives and looking to forget a horrendous family legacy. Dir. Tanovic (NO MAN'S LAND) constructs his puzzling narrative with cold efficiency and visual precision, although he lacks a touch for humanistic fabulism with which Kieslowski memorably invested his tales of fate and destiny.
Note: This was part of a planned trilogy which includes Tom Tykwer's HEAVEN (2002).
