Conformist, The
Aroview: Dazzling images and a potent brew of sex and politics merge seamlessly in this milestone of cinema about a submissive Italian Fascist recruited to assasinate a former academic mentor. The revered cinematography is by Vittorio Storaro, while Bertolucci, only in his twenties, displays a precocious talent for the medium with an array of brilliant visual and narrative firsts. Not only one of the best films of the seventies, but of all time.
