Everything Put Together
Aroview: Terse, psychologically demanding chamber piece that unravels the inner and domestic turmoil of a suburban mother whose newborn baby dies tragically after one day of birth.
Conveying an imploding sense of grief and overwhelming loss, dir. Forster (MONSTER'S BALL) places the debilitating pain and paranoia of Radha Mitchell's lead performance within a menacing imprint of modern suburbia, heightened to no end by the film's unnerving visual and aural design. While the directorial flourishes never fail to impress, this is an equally challenging and compelling look at the cause and effect of sudden bereavement.
