Aroview: An impassioned telling of an oft-told culture clash, this concerns a devout Muslim woman’s love for a working class, atheistic man, and the arranged marriage she is expected to concede to.
Though making last act concessions of her own to romantic melodrama tendencies, dir. Nadda’s treatment remains resoundingly emotional, and thanks to a pair of strong lead performances, magnifies the constant forge of love across disparate cultures.
