Aroview: The after-effects of September 11 act as a racially-charged backdrop to this low-budget thriller set on the mean streets of New York.

A mysterious divorcée (Penn) gets into a cab driven by a Syrian taxi driver (played by noted Tunisian/French dir. Abdellatif Kechiche) and asks him to drive to her ex-husband’s place. This simple beginning is twisted into a provocative thriller as the driver is coerced into terrorist activity by his increasingly unstable passenger, and while the ending remains slightly problematic, the two lead performances are impressive, and the overall tone ominous.
