Vacancy
Aroview: A middle-of-nowhere breakdown leaves Beckinsale and Wilson stranded in a hotel room full of hidden cameras – and as stars in a sicko snuff film, a fate they must escape.
In the best tradition of stageplays and single-location potboilers, Hungarian dir. Anthal maximizes the minimal setting, kneading classic Hitchcockian and basement anxieties into a creepy, heart-pounding instance of economy over excess. Sure enough, the film indulges in sadism of the HOSTEL variety, and while its stars are too pampered for its grindhouse pretensions, boasts directorial panache and a resourcefulness rare of horror movies these days.
