Walk Into The Sea, A
Aroview: Peripheral Factory filmmaker and one-time Warhol lover Danny Williams is the subject of this intriguing doco directed by his niece, which pieces together his creative life and the circumstances surrounding his mysterious disappearance at the age of 27.
Drawing on hazy recollections from the usual who's who of Factory insiders; second-hand vignettes from family and friends; and long-forgotten experimental shorts shot by Williams, dir. Robinson gleans brief glimpses of her uncle's unheralded talents (inc. designing the Exploding Plastic Inevitable lightshow), but is too often sidetracked by the allure of 'Andy' and his coterie of admirers. Ultimately too fragmentary to offer up more than clues and curios, as a memorial mosaic this remains deeply revealing of the nebulous, unreliable nature of long-term memories.
