Hancock
Aroview: Will Smith stars in this action comedy as an unlikely superhero whose sarcasm and destructive ways have put him out of favour with his public.
As Smith's boozy, boorish on-screen behaviour fiddles with his superstar image and the larger-than-life figure of the superhero, there's a fair amount of amusement to be had here, though the film's over-reliance on this lightly subversive conceit begins to wear thin by the hour mark. In a glut of recent superhero flicks, this fulfils the bargain without being especially noteworthy.

3 stars (Good Enough) Another superhero adaptation that could easily have been lost amidst some better-known names (especially the excellent Iron Man and Batman reboots), apart from the presence of Will Smith, outlandish special effects, and some mostly-funny comedy elements. ~Tom H
2 stars (Good Try) Nothing different - should have been better considering the quality of the supporting cast. ~Tubbs
